Local lore reports the former Governor and his wife, Cora Lily, arrived by train to visit the Woodalls in their newly constructed home. Governor Aycock was known as the "education governor" at the turn of the century. Governor Aycock was a tea totaller who detested public drunkenness and barely tolerated dancing. (We won't tell the Governor if you take a little nip and dance the night away!)

The carved, Honduras mahogany four-poster bed is American Empire with carved pineapples and scrolled headboard, which make this bed a work of art. Nana’s Cottage, located directly across the street from the Preston Woodall House, is a charming addition that will accommodate up to 6 guests. Built in the 1920’s, this 1,100 square foot cottage has been totally remodeled by Dale and Joel into a comfortable and convenient home away from home. Furnished with luxury linens, bathrobes, towels and park place mattresses, you will feel that you have stepped back in time to your Nana’s Cottage. You will have the luxury of a full kitchen, 1 very nice bathroom, 3 bedrooms, a den with cable TV, a private back deck and a porch that faces the Preston Woodall House. Because Nana’s Cottage has a full kitchen and all the amenities of a home, breakfast is not served to those overnight guests. Sit on the front porch and watch the world go while you relax directly across the street from the Preston Woodall House and enjoy all of the weekend festivities.
